What are the different training locks?
The Pro Pick Training Locks are designed to help you learn the intricacies of lock picking without damaging a real lock. We offer three different types, but it’s recommended to try then all to learn how to tell the difference by feedback and feel.
- Standard Pin Training Lock – Standard Pins are normal tube pins, this is where you want to start if you are new to lock picking.
- Spool Pin Training Lock – Spool Pins are shaped like roman columns, these high security pins with shift and bind in the lock.
- Serrated Pin Training Lock – Serrated pins are the most difficult and hardest to pick of the Pro Pick Training locks.
Clear training locks vs brass cutaway locks
Brass cutaway training locks and clear transparent training locks are both commonly used in lock picking practice for professionals, but there are some key differences between the two.
- Brass cutaway locks have a visible cutaway on one side, allowing the user to see the internal components of the lock, including the pins and springs. However, because the other side of the lock is solid brass, the user cannot see what is happening inside the lock as they manipulate it. This can make it more difficult for the user to get a sense of what is happening inside the lock and to adjust their technique accordingly.
- Clear transparent locks, on the other hand, are completely transparent, allowing the user to see everything that is happening inside the lock as they pick it. This can make it easier for the user to get a sense of what is happening inside the lock and to adjust their technique accordingly. Additionally, clear transparent locks often provide more feedback in terms of pin movement and binding, as the user can see each pin and how it interacts with the lock mechanism.
Overall, clear transparent locks may be easier for beginners to learn on, as they provide more visual feedback, while brass cutaway locks may be more challenging and provide less visual feedback. However, both types of locks can be effective tools for training professionals in lock picking techniques.
